learn efficiently, communicate musically

empower

You want to become a better flute player, but you have no idea how to practice—or even what to practice.

You dream of having a performance free from trembling knees, shaking fingers, and quivering lips.

Don’t you wish you had a flute teacher who could help you practice more efficiently, perform with confidence, and tell a story with your playing so you can finally have poise under pressure?

that's where i come in.

I’m Sarah Weisbrod, a Twin Cities, Minnesota-based flutist and teacher. I’m passionate—let’s be honest, admittedly obsessed—with helping you conquer obstacles on the flute.

Sound familiar?

I'm so glad you're here!

With 15+ years of experience teaching private flute lessons from beginners through college-level, learning from prized students of Marcel Moyse & Julius Baker, and a soon-to-be Doctorate in Musical Arts, I’ve amassed confidence-boosting, personally verified methods that help flutists elevate their flute playing.

I combine my expertise in music with 10+ years as a software consultant analyzing data & recognizing patterns in the pulp and paper industry—yup, I’ve had a hand in making sure your Starbucks latte doesn’t leak and your Amazon box doesn’t fall apart — to give you a customized, science-based learning experience.

Throughout the years, my students have received superior ratings at music contest, won spots in all-state ensembles, successfully auditioned for youth orchestras, earned college music scholarships, and performed in regional festivals and masterclasses.

Whether you’re a beginner trying to understand all the dots and lines in your music or an advanced flutist looking to master Tone Development Through Interpretation...

Whether you’re a beginner trying to understand all the dots and lines in your music or an advanced flutist looking to master Tone Development Through Interpretation...

I'm here to guide you on your journey!

I'll meet you where you're at and help you transform your flute playing.

Long story short, I didn’t have my first private teacher until I got to college. I placed 32nd overall in my freshman audition - OUCH!, but through hard work and an amazing teacher, I was playing in the top orchestra by my junior year.

In my senior year of college, I played for the late William Bennett (WIBB). Hearing him play was like hearing the flute in technicolor for the first time. He became an immense source of inspiration for me, and I made a point to study with him at master classes whenever possible.

Wibb taught me that music is like a language. Once I finally incorporated his teaching into my playing, my technical and pitch issues were easier to overcome. Plus, my confidence improved.

In the 15+ years since I became a private flute teacher, I’ve collected a wide array of teaching techniques that I use in my daily practice and with my students.

And now i'm going to share them with you.

I show you how to practice & what to practice — setting you up with a solid foundation.

I'm not like other flute teachers:

I use a mindful approach — preventing injuries and giving you poise under pressure.

I teach you the unwritten rules of music — helping you play more than just the notes on the page.

Generosity of the heart

"I observed long ago  that the real beauty of the sound comes from the generosity of the heart."
